Creative Resources In Print |
|
Creative Resources had its origins in about 1985 when I began playing around with shapes and images in BASIC on an IBM. Through the score of years since, the print industry has undergone massive changes. Cut-and-paste hard copy graphics production with its light tables and x-acto knives, PMT halftones and paste-up boards seems like ancient history given the evolution of computer hardware and software for print production. Yet for all the changes in production methods, the print media - newspapers, magazines, and fliers, as well as catalogs, brochures and business correspondence forms - remain a vital element for business marketing and promotion. Nowadays I run 3 Power macs (G3, G4 laptop, and dual processor G5). My monitors are LCD and digital displays, and I print color proofs on an Okidata 2600 LED printer. I scan with HP, save mountains of data to CDR, DVD and networked hard drives, provide prepress in any format including direct FTP and online submissions to printers in JPG and PDF. I use Photoshop, Quark Express, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Adobe Acrobat Distiller, and Powerpoint. I create webpages with Dreamweaver, adding HTML and Unix code where necessary to overcome glitches. |
